What to Bring

The old saying goes in Montana that only fools and newcomers try and predict the weather. Its best to come prepared for about anything for a day of fishing here on your Montana vacation -particularly in the early and late season. So here is what we suggest packing for your trip...

March-June and September-October

  • Good quality raingear-Goretex type or fully waterproof fabric/rubber work well
  • Waders-breathable are most comfortable or neoprene for really cold weather
  • Warm layers-fleece, wool sweater, etc
  • Long underwear tops and bottoms
  • Warm Hat
  • Sun Hat
  • Fingerless gloves
  • Sunglasses

July-August

  • Good quality raingear-waterproof/breathable fabric or fully waterproof work well
  • Waders-optional for summer season
  • Wading boots with neoprene socks, river shoes, or river sandals
  • Quick dry pants or shorts
  • Light, comfortable shirt
  • Warm Hat
  • Sun Hat
  • Sunglasses

Bring your fishing gear if you have it. Otherwise, our guides will supply you with a rod. We recommend 4-7 weight full length fly rods. Given the choice, a 9' 5 or 6 weight will be most versatile. Please call if you have gear questions.
