Fishing Report
The Missouri offers an excellent year-round tailwater fishing option within a driving distance (a long day trip) of Missoula. The primary section of the Missouri of interest to Missoula anglers is the 30 mile stretch from Holter Dam to Cascade. This section of the river is often referred to as a giant spring creek with heavy aquatic vegetation and prolific hatches. The Missouri boast large numbers of fish ranging from 2000-4000 catchable fish per mile depending on the season. The Missouri offers excellent dry fly fishing at times with the possibility of the trout of a lifetime on any given day. The "Mo" fishes most consistently subsurface with consistently good nymph fishing and top-quality streamer fishing for big browns and rainbows.

| 10/3: We should see the baetis start to kick in with the real fall weather on tap over the next week. Look for cloudy days minus the wind to produce the best dry fly activity. Nymphs and streamers should keep you bent when you're not into the risers. | |
