The Fly Shop

The Missoulian Angler began with the vision of Paul Koller. Starting out in a small location in Missoula, Montana, he grew the business on his fly tying experience and expertise with bugs. After a couple of location changes around town, the shop ended up in its NEW LOCATION IN MAY 2011: 802 South Higgins.

As the oldest fly shop in Missoula, we continue to focus on providing quality fly tying materials, tying classes for all skill levels, and enjoy teaching others about fly tying techniques. We still believe in the value of walking into a fly shop, being greeted by friendly and knowledgeable staff, and checking out what they are tying on the vise.

As the owner of The Missoulian Angler Fly Shop, Russell strives to educate on the water as a Montana fly fishing guide, seeks to provide a quality experience in the retail environment, and develop lasting relationships through fly fishing.

Russell currently is a board member for the Fishing Outfitters Association of Montana (FOAM), and The Trout Conservancy of Montana, a local non-profit organization dedicated to conserving and improving Montana’s wild trout populations. Russell is also a Pro Staff member for Montana Fly Company and Scott Fly Rods.
