Mid-February Fishing Report
When it’s on, it’s on.
We have been experiencing some great fishing this month from all our local water.
Rock Creek has been giving up the numbers with a few nicer fish mixed in to keep things interesting. Rubber legs, Eggs, Copper Johns in any color, and even some streamers when things are right. Just find the slower, deeper runs and set on anything that moves your indicator.
Both the Bitterroot and The Clark are giving up some great fish right now. Not in the numbers the Creek is but enough action to keep you fishing all day. Rubber legs, Eggs, Worms, Mayfly nymphs, and Stone nymphs will all catch fish. On the warmer calm days the midge fishing has also been fantastic. Gnats, Buzzballs, and Clusters have all been doing the trick.
The Big bugs are starting to crawl around in the bottom of the rivers. We looked around yesterday and found a few Skwala nymphs starting to move to shallower parts of the river. They aren’t ready yet by any means, but it is crunch time if you haven’t started tying yet. It will be here before you know it.
