Bitterroot River

The Bitterroot river fly fishing has taken a bit of a hit in productivity the last few days with rising water. Before this rain event the dry fly fishing was starting to pick up in the middle and upper stretches with Golden Stones, Green Drakes, PMD’s and Yellow Sallies. Expect more Green Drakes in the coming days with the clouds and Stoneflies following with the sun in the upcoming forecast. It appears that the brunt of the storm hit yesterday but still looking at significant rain today. Expect it to level off and begin dropping again in the next few days. It may be more of a nymph and streamer game today with fewer dry fly opportunities.

Blackfoot River

The Blackfoot River fly fishing has a been great the last few weeks with Golden Stones and Salmon Flies throughout the system. The Rainy weather has brought an increase in flows and put the Stoneflies down. Streamer and nymph fishing remained fairly consistent through the rising water. The Blackfoot should level off quickly and start dropping in the coming days and should continue to produce some great fishing with Salmon Flies on the upper stretches and Golden Stones throughout the system. Be sure to have some Green Drakes with you in the next few days during the cloudy weather.

Clark Fork River

The Clark Fork River fly fishing was starting to produce some nice fish on dry flies last week but the recent rain has effected the clarity. Streamer fishing and nymphing is the best option this week and we expect it to come back in to shape later this week.

Rock Creek

Rock Creek fly fishing has been great lately. Salmon Flies are pretty much over, but the Golden Stones has been producing some great fishing. Expect a strong Green Drake hatch in the next few days with Golden Stones following on the sunny days. Dry fly fishing may be a little tougher today but should still produce some decent fishing. Streamers and nymphs are great options as the water rises on Rock Creek.
