Bitterroot River

The Bitterroot river fly fishing has been good lately with some decent dry fly fishing. Flows are still above average which makes wading a bit tougher. Focus on the upper stretches if you are a wade fisherman. The upper, Middle and lower stretches have all been good for the float fisherman. Hoppers, Goldens, Yellow Sallies and PMD’s have been hatching fairly consistent. We’ve primarily been fishing Golden Stone dries and droppers like Tung Jig PMD, G-Kes, Golden Spot Jig, OG Hot Spot Jig and MAngler Jig Stones. Few fish eating PMD’s on top and some decent caddis hatches in the evenings.

Blackfoot River

The Blackfoot River fly fishing been a solid option lately. Hatches consist of Golden Stones, Yellow Sallies, PMD’s, Hoppers and Caddis in the evenings. The tube hatch is out in full force and should continue with the upcoming hot days in the forecast. Which means the lower section should be fished early morning and late evening. Our go to rigs are either a Hopper or Golden Stone dry with droppers like G-Kes, TH Duracell, Tung Jig PMD, CBD Nymph, Frenchie and Olive Hot Spot.

Clark Fork River

The Clark Fork River fly fishing continues to fish good on top on the lower to the upper stretches and should continue to fish great throughout the summer. Golden Stones, PMD’s, Yellow Sallies, Hoppers and caddis in the evening is the main game. We are starting to see some Tricos in the morning show up but nothing consistent yet. Hopper dropper and Golden Stone dry dropper has been our go to rig. Droppers have been most consistent like G-Kes, TH Pink Hot Spot, Spanish Bullet, Tung PMD Jig and Pat’s Jig.

Rock Creek

Rock Creek fly fishing has been good lately with flows finally dropping into a more wade fish manageable level. The upper stretches are smaller and easier to wade with the amount of water pushing through. The main hatches right now are PMD’s, Yellow Sallies, Golden Stones and Hoppers. Streamer fishing has been consistent and nymphing is a numbers game. Rock Creek should fish great all summer with cool water and higher then average flows.
