Bitterroot

The Root continues to fish great in the cloudy weather. While you can get them on Goldens and

Hoppers, the main game in the clouds is going to be PMDS especially on the mid to lower river. Fishing

Cripples and Emergers in the morning and fishing Duns then Spinners in the afternoon is your best

strategy. For flies try The Water Walker, Bullethead Golden Stone, True Golden Stones, PK Golden

Stone, Carnige Green Drake, Victory Drake, Purple Haze, Hoppers and your favorite PMD pattern.

Blackfoot

Whether the day gives you clouds or bright sun, the Foot will rarely disappoint you this time of year. Still

some Salmon Flies kicking around on the upper Foot, however the fish have seemed to key in on

Goldens, Sallies and Hoppers. Don’t hesitate to throw Mayfly attractors in the clouds(Parachute Adams,

Purple Haze, Brindle Chute, etc…). Streamer Fishing can be as good as it gets with these water temps

and the beautiful cloudy weather we have been seeing. For flies try the Water Walker, it is quickly taking

the place of the chubby chernobyl, True Golden Stones, PK Golden Stone, Carnige Green Drake, Victory

Drake, Purple Haze, big attractors, Hoppers, and your favorite PMD pattern.

Clark Fork

The cloudy weather has been producing some spectacular days on the Clark. Fishing PMD Cripples and

Emergers in the morning and moving to Duns and Spinners after noon will get the job done. If you are

intimidated by the size of the lower Clark, then days like these is when you want to try to master this

river. The clouds bring out lots of Mayflies which turns the surface into a feeding frenzy. You will see

single fish rising to pods of 20 or more fish feeding in specific spots that will help you dial in where these

fish typically lay. For flies try The Water Walker, Bullethead Golden Stone, True Golden Stones, PK

Golden Stone, Carnige Green Drake, Victory Drake, Purple Haze, Hoppers and your favorite PMD

pattern.

Rock Creek

The Creek continues to fish good. With the water temps dropping and colder weather moving in, the

fish are as happy as can be. Hoppers and Mayfly attractor patterns are the flies of choice right now.
