Bitterroot River

The Bitterroot river fly fishing has taken a bit of a hit in productivity the last few days with rising water. Before this rain event the dry fly fishing was starting to pick up in the middle and upper stretches with Golden Stones, Green Drakes, PMD’s and Yellow Sallies. Expect more Green Drakes in the coming days with the clouds and Stoneflies following with the sun in the upcoming forecast. The Blackfoot River fly fishing has a been great the last few weeks with Golden Stones and Salmon Flies throughout the system. The Rainy weather has brought an increase in flows and put the Stoneflies down. Streamer and nymph fishing remained fairly consistent through the rising water. Be sure to have some Green Drakes with you in the next few days during the cloudy weather.

Bitterroot River

The Bitterroot river fly fishing is starting to pick up and water is dropping and clearing up. Still a lot of water and not much for hatches on the main river the last few days. With the water temps warming up, the bugs should come soon. We have been seeing a few Yellow Sallies and Goldens on the mainstem and Salmon Flies on the upper reaches and in to the forks. We may see some Green Drakes with the cloudy weather in the next few days. Nymphing and streamers in the inside seems is what we have been focusing on for the most part. Lots of stonefly nymphs moving around, so use stonefly nymph patterns as your point fly while nymphing and switch up droppers until you find one they like on that particular day.

Blackfoot River

The Blackfoot River fly fishing is still not great yet due to clarity, but that is changing quickly and should be game on any day for dry fly fishing. Salmon Flies have shown up and there’s a few fish eating them on top. Clarity while not great, is still very fishable especially for streamers. Streamer fishing has remained consistent throughout the week and should continue to be productive. The fish are starting to look up for Salmon Flies but with the clouds on the way, it may slow the hatch down a bit.

Clark Fork River

The Clark Fork River fly fishing is not good and should be your last option. Clark Fork is always the last river to come around. Might be fishable by end of next week or week after. We will keep you posted.
