We are excited to host legendary Missoula fly tier George Kesel and his “Afternoon Delight” Fly Tying series here at the shop. For anyone who doesn’t know Mr. Kesel, he is an amazing tier and an ever better teacher. No matter how long you have been tying I am sure you can learn from George.
Each class runs independently from the rest so if you see one or two that interest you, you can sign up for just those. Or if you want… Sign up for all 6. That’s what I would do.
The first class is Tomorrow (Sunday) Jan 27th. The rest of the Classes will be held on Saturdays. All Classes will run from 1:00 – 5:oo pm. But I would imagine they will run a bit over knowing George.
Classes are limited to 6 people per class on a first come first serve basis. This is a great opportunity to learn from one of the best guys in the game. Each class will cover around 10+ bugs so you will get plenty of practice and learn a bunch of great patterns.
Tomorrow’s class is all about Cripples and Emergers.
The rest of the classes are as follows:
Sat Feb 2nd – Streamers
Sat Feb 9th- Tube Flies
Sat Feb 16th- Streamers
Sat Feb 23rd- Classic Steelhead Flies
Sat March 2nd- Dry Flies
All the classes* are $40 and include all of the materials you will need for the class. So you get 4 hours of class time with George and all the materials for only $40.
*Tube Fly class is $64.95 or $40 with Tube Fly Tying tool.
Give us a call here at the shop to get your name on the list or let us answer any questions you might have. (406) 728-7766
Be sure to sign up soon for the class or classes you want soon. They will fill up.
Lots of people in the shop stocking up on tying materials the past few days. It’s that time of year when the rivers are pretty icy and tying can be a great way to prepare yourself for the upcoming season. All of us here at the shop have been rebuilding our boxes.
Skwalas will be here before you know it. It’s already the second week of January. Don’t let it surprise you.
We have decide that our tying nights here at the shop will be on Thursday nights. The winter version of our popular Friday night BBQ. Bugs, Suds, and a good time. We will be starting this Thursday around 5:30. Anyone is welcome. Bring your vice and materials to crank out some bugs. See you there!

We are wanting to continue the Friday night theme through the winter here at the MAngler with a tying nights. Not a class structure. Just food, cold beer, fishing videos, and fly tying.
A good time for people to get excited about the upcoming season and to fill their boxes. Maybe learn a few secret bugs from other people along the way. Its already January and spring fishing will be here before you know it. So we want to make sure you are ready in the fly arena of your fishing game plan.
Let us know if you would be interested so we can plan accordingly

Tying. Cleaning the boat. Collecting the crushed beer cans out of your boat bag. Repairing rods. Replacing lines. And more tying. Tying more nights than not.
Tricos, Drakes, The Big Stones, Worms, Rubber legs, and the list goes on.
If you don’t want to buy ’em. You gotta tie ’em.
But now is a pretty good time to stock up on the bugs you don’t want to tie. All flies in the shop are 65% off. A screamin’ deal.
As for the bugs you don’t mind tying. We have you covered. Seems like a lot of folks are getting a good start on tying for the nest season. Lots of materials for chubby’s, tricos, worms, and streamers have been heading home to someones tying desk. We have been tying a variety of bugs for our own boxes. Ants, Hoppers, Biot body tricos, Goldens, and anything else that seemed to move fish last year, but need a little adjustment. Now is the time to create the next great bug.
If you don’t tie but want to, we have a few options. There are still a few (one or two) spots left in our tying classes. Give us a call at the shop for more information about that. We will also start doing our winter version of the popular Friday Night BBQ. After the holidays we will start doing Friday Tying Night. Less of a class like atmosphere and more tying bugs, watching fishing videos, eating, and B.S.
We have everything you will need to tie up next years bugs. We are the shop in Missoula for the Angler who ties their own bugs.
