Missoula Fishing Report

Clark Fork
The Clark Fork through and above town is seeing plenty of Salmon Flies with receptive fish waiting for you to outsmart them. The lower end is getting Salmon Flies as well, but Green Drakes in the clouds has been the most productive by far.
Bitterroot
There has been a lot of mixed reports coming from the Bitterroot. Most consistent has been the upper river with Salmon Flies and a few Golden Stones starting to pop as well. The few cloudy days we had this last week created a very good Green Drake hatch that had fish up river wide on the mid and lower stretches.
Blackfoot
Fishing has been good on the foot with a few Salmon Flies starting to show up. The warm weather should help the movement of bugs. Streamer fishing has been spectacular. Nymphing big stonefly patterns down deep will be the most effective tactic at this point, but don’t hesitate to search for fish with a Salmon Fly Dry during the afternoon.
Rock Creek
It’s that time of year when the big orange bugs are moving and the fish couldn’t be happier. Salmonflies are now throughout the system. Our guides have been running the upper to mid creek and the reports are consistently GREAT. With the salmon flies moving upstream everyday expect to see Golden Stones moving in as well as Yellow Sallies and on those cloudy days look for the Green Drakes to start popping.
