The Clark Fork is at historically normal flows for the entire river. Temperatures have dropped and there currently are no restrictions. The river has been producing well from Deer Lodge to St. Regis.
Tricos have been showing up in the mornings and providing some head-hunting opportunities. Be sure to pay attention to your leader when fishing these small bugs. Drift and presentation is as important as fly selection. Cloudy days have got the olives going and provide more opportunities for casting to feeding fish.
Hoppers have been producing river-wide. Smaller hoppers in 10s and 12s have been the ticket. Look for shaded banks and twitch your bug. Smaller droppers have been getting those fish that are not coming up for the hopper.
Pike fishing has been good in the sloughs and on the slower inside seams.
