Fish with the Best Fly Fishing Guides
in Missoula Montana
The Missoulian Angler Fly Shop has been outfitting anglers for over 30 years! We employ the best Missoula Fly Fishing Guides that Missoula has to offer – seasoned pros with years of experience on our local waters.

Our Missoula Fly Fishing Guides
Our Missoula fly fishing guides are eager to provide a quality experience on the water for anglers of all skill levels. We hire select individuals from a large pool of experienced Montana fly fishing guides. The crew on this site represents our core group of guides who have dedicated time and energy to Missoulian Angler Fly Shop clients over the years.
We max out at six boats a day. That's just how we run things. When you keep the numbers small, the whole operation stays focused. Your guide has time to think about your day before you even walk through the door. The shop isn't slammed trying to push 30 groups out at once. You're not just another booking on a busy morning. You actually get taken care of.
Six trips also means you're getting one of the best fly fishing guides in Missoula, not whoever's left after a bigger outfitter fills out their roster. We don't keep a bench of twenty guys. Every guide we put on the water is someone we'd want rowing for us.

Answers to the questions we hear most about our Missoula guided fly fishing trips.
How much does a guided fly fishing trip in Missoula cost?
A full day float trip is $675 and a half day is $550. That price is for the boat, which fishes one or two anglers, so the cost is the same whether you come alone or bring a partner. A $150 deposit per boat per day holds your dates.
We also run float trip specials at certain times of year, so it's worth checking our seasonal specials before you book.
What's included in a guided fly fishing trip?
Just about everything. Your guide supplies the boat, rods, all tackle and flies, lunch on full day trips, snacks and drinks, and the river shuttle. Most trips meet at the shop and your guide handles it from there.
What you bring is your Montana fishing license, clothing that fits the season (a rain jacket, warm layers in the cooler months, hat and sunglasses), and the guide's gratuity.
Can I book a trip if I've never fly fished?
Absolutely. Many of our guests are beginners, and our guides teach all the time. They're good at it and they genuinely enjoy it. Just tell us when you book that you're new to fly fishing and we'll set your day up around learning.
When is the best time of year for a guided trip in Missoula?
We fish consistently from March through the end of October. Mid June through mid October is prime time, and the spring months of March and April fish great too. The most popular weeks often book months in advance, so the earlier you call, the better your odds of getting the dates you want.
What should I bring on a guided trip?
Seasonally appropriate clothing is the big one. Bring rain gear or waders, warm layers in spring and fall, a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. If it's warm enough to wet wade, bring river shoes that stay on your feet with a real sole, not flip flops. Pack any daily medications, and don't forget your fishing license. After that, all you really need is a good attitude.
How do I book a guided trip?
Give us a call at 406-728-7766. We book all our trips by phone because an actual conversation helps us match you with the right guide and put together the best possible day on the water. A $150 deposit per boat per day confirms your dates.
