The recent rain events have brought the Blackfoot flows up causing high and muddy conditions. It's currently dropping and coming back to fishable shape. Before the blowout, salmon flies were out and about, mostly on the lower and middle river. We expect that to continue as the water drops and temperatures warm back up.

Salmonfly, golden stone, green drake, and yellow sally.
How's it going to be in a couple weeks?
We're inching closer to salmonfly madness, followed by golden stones, and green drakes going off on those cloudy days. This is the time of year we've all been waiting for on the Blackfoot, and on a lot of other streams around Missoula.
